​April 11, 1956: Nat King Cole Is Attacked

In Birmingham, Alabama, Nat King Cole was performing for an all-white audience when halfway through his 3rd song he was attacked on stage by 6 white men.

Police arrested the 6 men, they were all members of the Alabama White Citizens Council; jail sentences and fines were given to 4 of the attackers.
