In Clinton, Tennessee, on a early Sunday morning, Clinton High School was almost leveled due to a bombing. There was estimated 75-100 sticks of dynamite that had been placed in 3 locations in the building.
There were no injuries, but school officials estimated damages at $300,000.
Clinton had once again become the focus of attention over a crime that was related to the school’s desegregation policy.
While the school was rebuilt, Clinton High School students were bussed to Oak Ridge where the school operated in the recently vacated building that had housed Linden Elementary School.
