The Pennsylvania Gazette prints a story under the title ‘Slaves In Other Professions’ about Simon, many other reports say this is the 1st mention of a black doctor or dentist in the Colonies.

The Gazette states Simon is a runaway slave pretending to be a great doctor, who can read, write and draw blood.
