​September 18, 1919: Fritz Pollard Becomes The 1st African American To Play Pro Football For A Major Team

Pollard played for thr Akron Indians (Pros in 1920), and would lead them to the APFA championship in 1920. In 1921, he became the co-head coach of the Akron Pros, while still maintaining his roster position as running back. 

Fritz Pollard was also the 1st African-American to play in the Rose Bowl.
