Conservative pastor E.W. Jackson, a former Republican candidate for lieutenant governor in Virginia, told Fox News on Thursday that all clergy should be armed because a white South Carolina shooter attacked a historically black South Carolina church for it’s “biblical views,” not because of racism.

Yes he’s right, in and environment of crime ridden America you have to be prepared for anything. At least (3) three Deacons, if not the Pastor, should have weapons locked and loaded. I know a Judge who carried a 357 Mangum under his robe in the Court Room. The world is to crazy to be unarmed and to leave your congregation at the mercy of any fool.

Also, Root said himself that the attack was racially motivated—had nothing to do with racism.

If it’s had nothing to do with racism, than with what else, Let the pastor explain himself. We should not let this kind of our black pastors are ministers misled us for their own benefit. He shouldn’t be
a candidate for the racist republicans in the first place. We don’t learn from our history and more recently with the dead of our African American brother and son George Floyd. We are running out of time and don’t have time for nonsense and games.
I do not own a gun and hopefully I’ll never have arm myself with one. However, every group of people that in some way has been terrorized sees fit to arm and defend themselves. For some unimaginable reason black Americans are never supposed to defend their communities, if they do, they are considered militants. This debate is not new to us…we have been debating this for decades. Frederick Douglass and Rev Henry Highland Garnet butt heads on this very issue; during the Red Summer of 1919, when whites invaded black communities, the issue was debated in scores of black churches around the country. In one church in Washington, DC, Nannie Helen Burroughs marched in with girls from her school singing, “We fight everyones’ battles but our own!” …shedding light on the fact that Blacks fought in WW I, but defending themselves in their own country was debatable. And of course the black community in Tulsa, did what they could in their defense. I think a viable first step in defending our churches or whatever is to put in place strict security and not allow everyday ‘walk-ins’…this doesn’t however protect buildings from outside attacks such as bombings etc.

Respectfully, I disagree. If this gentleman had taken one minute to listen to the murderer; one hour to learn the white superiority complex biblical teachings and practices; and one day to compare all of the deaths and murders that has taken place before, during and since then. Perhaps he would wake up to the fact that there are some evil beliefs and practices webbed in the worst of some Cultures just as there are some good in others. This isn’t about Christianity but evil vs. good; right vs wrong; greed vs giving, common sense and having good judgement to know the difference. A true follower of the teaching of the Savior would know as Marvin Gaye so elegantly sang war is not the answer only love will complicate. I’m not saying you shouldn’t defend yourself when attacked if possible, but to do evil for evil is wrong. Never trust any human until you know their intent and character, even then, be ware. Revenge is not for man. One would expect especially the “religious Christian” would believe that only The Most High God will cast revenge on evil. Peace.
