I am assuming Annie had very little exposure because she probably did not want the fame. She just wanted to be a reserved business woman and give back to her community. Now I believe Sarah Breedlove became more popular because…..Madame. The name madame means prestige and respect. She not only learn the tools of the trade, she changed her name.

My paternal Grandfather was her chauffeur from St. Louis until she closed her doors. My Dad's family lived over her garage on Chicago's South Park, now King drive. Grandpa had to get a new job but stayed in touch, I remember the grown folks talking about her passing away. Col. John C. Robinson was her pilot, flying out of an airport in Robbin, IL. until it was destroyed in a tornado. A great lady!

What an inspiration! I heard of Annie Malone today for the first time from the owner of the beauty salon where I was having my hair done. I will help spread the Annie Malone story–another great but little known Black history story! This is a powerhouse story we can all be proud to tell. Thank you for sharing.
A lot of my siblings lived at Annie Malone at some point. We were all seperated. Our mom last name was Malone

How can I get a copy of this video? The world needs to know about the accomplishments of Annie Malone. Why have historians ignored Annie Malone and all that she did, yet promoted Madame C.J. Walker, who actually worked for Ms.Malone?

Annie Malone Drive was formerly Goode Avenue and Chuck Berry was born there (2520 Goode Avenue). The song "Johnny B. Goode" is named from the name of the street, Goode Avenue.
