Her journey to success has led her all over, but started in the Caribbean, where she worked at WVIS in St. Croix. She became so focused on her career that she had no friends and no sex because both would get in the way of what she wanted to do with her life.
When speaking on the topics, Williams reportedly stated, “When I got to the island, there were a few things that I already knew. Number one: I am not here to make friends or fall in love,” she says. “…So, I had no friends by design. I had no sex by design because I couldn’t afford to slip up and get pregnant.”
Some time after leaving her job in the Caribbean, she began working for WRS, where she was employed for nine years before being fired in 1998. Following her termination, she went on to work for WBLS from 2001 to 2009.
Once Williams walked away from radio in 2009, she was ready to focus on her television. She would ultimately begin hosting The Wendy Williams show, which covered mostly black entertainment topics and celebrity gossip. The show is still on the air today and has been renewed for a 2016-17 season.
