CUBA GOODING SR. REPORTED DEAD AT AGE 72

Soul singer Cuba Gooding Sr., a 1970s music star and the father of Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr., was found dead in his car Thursday in Woodland Hills, officials said.

Gooding’s body was slumped over the wheel of his Jaguar in 22100 block of Ventura Boulevard about 1 p.m., according to officials.

LAPD officials said there were no signs of foul play and that the investigation had been turned over to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office to determine the cause of death. Paramedics who responded to the scene tried to revive the singer.

Sources familiar with the investigation but not authorized to discuss the death said alcohol containers and drug paraphernalia were found in Gooding’s car.

And though emergency procedures were performed, the Main Ingredient singer and father of actors Cuba Gooding Jr. and Omar Gooding, was pronounced dead.

TMZ says they were told by police that an overdose was suspected.
