Jamie Foxx set to play first ever Black Lead in a Pixar Movie

A new animated film called Soul starring Jamie Foxx will be Pixar’s first ever animated film with an African American as the lead actor. The film will also feature the voices of Phylicia Rashad, Daveed Diggs, Questlove, and Tina Fey.

Directed by two-time Academy Award®-winner Pete Docter, co-directed by Kemp Powers and produced by Academy Award®-nominee Dana Murray, Soulopens in theaters on June 19, 2020. According to Docter, the idea for the story is 23 years in the making.
