In 1984, she married James DeBarge and the marriage was annulled the following year. She later married dancer and songwriter, Rene Elizondo Jr., the couple divorced in 2000. She has also dated songwriter and record producer Jermaine Dupri.

On January 3, 2017, Jackson gave birth to a son, Eissa Al Mana, with husband Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana. Since the birth of their son, the couple has separated.
