Featuring Kathleen Cleaver, Jamal Joseph, Ericka Huggins, in addition to archival footage of Huey P. Newton and Eldridge Cleaver, The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution tells the story of a influential movement that established a new revolutionary culture in the United States.

In the era of “Black Lives Matter” and nationally publicized tension between Black communities and law enforcement, their causes, beliefs, and slogans like “power to the people” are once again relevant. The party’s condemnations of brutality, oppression, and injustice are broadcast throughout the nation.

Prominent documentarian Stanley Nelson speaks directly with the diverse group of individuals who were there during the rise and fall of the pivotal organization, such as journalists, police, FBI informants, white supporters and detractors, and former Black Panthers themselves.

The full documentary is available online until March 18, 2016.
