Happy birthday to Lady Marmalade herself, Patti LaBelle! The soul singer turns 73 (May 24) years old today.

LaBelle’s music career spans more than 50 years and is divided between her time in a singing group and as a solo artist. She also has added acting to her resume, guest starring and playing herself on television shows, from Fox’s Empire and American Horror Story to The Nanny and A Different World in the 90’s, according to IMDB.

Most recently, LaBelle is an entrepreneur, selling food items like barbecue sauce, sweet potato pie, which became a viral sensation, and her follow-up, two different kinds of pound cake. She also has released several cook books and houses recipes for fans on her website.
