Black Then is seeking qualified virtual interns for the following positions.
Content Production and History Research
Conduct production and history research interns are needed to create content for Black Then. Applicants with advanced knowledge of African-American history are encouraged to apply.
Graphic Design
Graphic design are needed to assist with creative projects and administrative duties. Projects may include, but are not limited to: assisting with digital layout and design, photo retouching, file management, and website maintenance. Qualified applicants must be familiar with Adobe CS5 (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Microsoft Office 2010. Applicants must also have knowledge of design and layout principals, understanding of online multimedia, including web and email.
Video Editing
Video editing interns are needed to assist creative projects that involve audio and video editing, encoding, and compression. Applicants must be familiar with digital media including codecs, image types, resolutions, and frame rates. Applicants must have solid knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud apps, such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Media Encoder and After Effects. Color and sound finishing experience is a plus, as is familiarity with audio editing software.
Social Media Marketing
Social media interns are needed to assist with marketing efforts. After learning about the Black Then vision and marketing objectives, interns will be expected to create social media campaigns that will increase reading engagement and subscriptions.
Interns are expected to have at least basic knowledge of social media, although use on a business level is preferred. You must be able to assess and measure how social media fits in with our business strategies and put plans into action that will add value to our followers’ experience (with direction from the Black Then team).
Business Development
Business development interns are needed to assist with a variety of administrative and editing duties, including Internet research, reports, file/data management, and project coordination. Applicants must have strong communication and writing skills. Knowledge of WordPress, HTML, Microsoft Office, and social media is essential.
Compensation
This is an opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience and build your resume in a creative environment. A paid position may be available at the end of the internship to the right person, but participation itself does not guarantee an offer of employment. A letter of reference will be offered upon request.
