If what you know about your history is limited to slavery, you will subconsciously compare it to the disenfranchisement you see today and feel that we’ve progressed.
However, when you know your history, you will see the many ways in which we have actually regressed. Even more so, when you begin to understand your history prior to colonialism, then you’ll better understand what our revolutionary leaders fought for throughout the African Diaspora.
