Because lighter-complexion skin is often associated with beauty and status, those black women who often landed the more prestigious television roles up until the 1990s.
Colorism has often been considered a Black or U.S. issue. However, the color issue is global, diverse, and multifaceted. It impacts the way white people interact with and see people of color.
