At Black Then, we frequently see interesting photos that give us a glimpse into the past. They tend to show us a piece of black history that is often not covered in textbooks, in history classes, or shown in the media.
In a photo that we found, we see this great image called “The Clique“. The photo is a Group picture of eight unknown female students posing on the lawn of the Fisk University campus, Nashville, Tennessee, ca 1915.
Fisk University was founded in 1866, shortly after the end of the Civil War. The university is a historically black university and is the oldest institution of higher learning in Nashville, Tennessee.
