In this Flipboard Find by By Finlay Renwick, we learn more about HBO plans to revisit Muhammad Ali’s greatest moments in a new documentary series
HBO is set to revisit the legacy of The Greatest, Muhammad Ali, in a new multi-part documentary series produced by LeBron James and Training Day director Antoine Fuqua.
Having already donated nearly $2.5 million to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture this month, basketball superstar James is turning his eye to Ali’s inimitable life and career.
Speaking about the project, James said: “It’s tough to put into words how much it means to me to be a part of this project honoring the legacy and telling the extremely important story of the great Muhammad Ali.
“He transcended sports and used his platform to empower people, which paved the way for all athletes and people of every race and gender that came after him, myself included.”
Currently untitled, the series will cover Ali’s greatest battles in the ring, as well as previously unseen archival footage and, as stated by HBO, “gorgeous, cinematic recreations” of iconic moments in Ali’s life.
With production already started, expect some more news soon.
