Today, the parties have switched some platforms. The Democrat party does not attract extreme left-wing zealots, but the Republican party does attract a number of them within its ranks just to get votes and because some of them are anti-immigrants.

Interesting! I have election pieces from a local campaign in Washington, DC in 1871, when my great grandfather was running and elected to local office. Very different memorabilia…he was a Republican and I had to laugh the ticket that was handed out said, “Vote Republican!” his name appeared with the mayoral candidate. Times have changed!
