In a video posted on The Black History School, we learn more about Tyler did not take any real position on slavery.  He thought slavery was evil but never freed any of his slaves.  As president, he believed slavery should be a state decision and remained “hands off” during his short presidency, at least that is the storybook version of Tyler.
