Emmitt Smith was born on May 15, 1969, in Pensacola, Florida. As a young boy, he some daydreamed of playing football for the Dallas Cowboys.
While in school, he played sports and excelled. He went on to attend the University of Florida on a sports scholarship where he set and broke his own record.
In 1990, his dream came true, he left college to join the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. Smith was chosen in the first round.
He later returned to college and earned a bachelor’s degree in public recreation. He excelled as a running back and became a valuable asset to the team. Smith’s NFL career ended in 2020.
Smith joined the ESPN team in 2007 as a studio expert for pre-game reporting. He has also been inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame.
